The Sharrow Festival Family Village
The 'Village' offers you the buzz and family friendly atmosphere of Sheffield's highly successful multi-cultural Sharrow Festival. It's all about taking part, for all ages, with regular dance sessions through the weekend, drumming workshops and even spraycan art. There’s a Sure Start tent for the under-fives and Burngreave Community Radio Station bringing in some of their best acts. There’s also Children's Carnival Parade. The largest tent in the Village is reserved for carnival costume making. Children and adults alike will be able to put together wacky and colourful costumes in preparation for the Children's Carnival Parade round the festival site on Sunday afternoon. With the Sheffield Samba band heading it up and the Bollywood Brass band bringing up the rear.

The Busker’s Barge

Toots and the MaytalsThe band formed by Toots Hibbert in the early 60s has taken the world by storm and influenced countless artists and genres. Toots is credited with naming reggae in his track ‘Do The Reggay’ and is a hero and inspiration to many artists who have collaborated with him in the last 50 years including Eric Clapton, Willie Nelson, Shaggy and Lou Reed. http://www.tootsandthemaytals.com/
The Lightning SeedsLed by leading Liverpool musician, Ian Brody, The Lightning Seeds achieved international stardom as one of the leading ‘Brit pop’ acts of the 90s. Macka BThis London born reggae artist has been recording and performing since the early 80s. He found a home on Mad Professors’ ‘Ariwa’ label and blossomed into one of the most highly talented and acclaimed reggae vocalists in the world. DodgyDodgy are a power-pop trio who were originally together for 7 years and sold over a million records worldwide. The CrookesSheffiield based band The Crookes are poised to release their second LP on legendary indie label, Fierce Panda. The SelecterOne of the biggest acts on the legendary ‘2 Tone’ label, the Selecter are a Coventry based ska band who formed in the late 70s. They have notched up numerous chart hits that feature the distinctive vocals of lead singer, Pauline Black. Renegade Brass BandCombining 8 horns with 2 percussionists scratch DJ and live MC, the Renegade Brass Band mix jazz, funk and hip-hop with a raw brass sound and high-energy live show. Kanda Bongo ManKanda Bongo Man is one of the best known African music stars on the planet and a pioneer of the African Soukous music. He was championed by John Peel and Andy Kershaw in the late 80s and developed a huge fan base. Laura SteelLaura Steel is a local singer/ song writer who is set for total global domination. She is currently putting the finishing touches to her highly anticipated debut LP, recording in LA, London and New York. Nisha Lall Bollywood DanceNisha Lall is a Bollywood dance choreographer who is well experienced in getting huge groups of people to take part in dances. At Tramlines 2009 (the first event), Nisha got hundreds of members of the public to do an impromptu version of the Slumdog Millionaire dance for what became one of the most memorable moments of the festival.
Noise BlastersThe Noise Blasters play infectious Bhangra rhythms that are guaranteed to get you moving. The band comprises of Satnam Singh and his two sons who have been trained to a high level in their father’s craft.
Sheffield Samba BandThe Sheffield Samba band are a long established group with many members. They now have a wealth of experience, taking part in festivals, street parties and protests.
