Sheftival is a party to celebrate our city and region’s incredible sporting and Olympic heritage. And while we have got an awesome line up of music and hundreds of things to do around the site, the Olympic Games is centre stage and available to everyone to watch for FREE.
Sheftival Live – Free Olympic Viewing Zone
Sheftival Live, our Olympic Games Viewing Zone, features a massive 48 square metre TV screen, where we hope and expect to see Jess Ennis win gold and Usain Bolt break the land speed record. It’s the region’s biggest communal Olympic Games Viewing Zone with a week of free viewing in Don Valley Stadium in the build up to Sheftival. The Stadium also boasts the city’s biggest umbrellas. So up to 9,000 of you can come and watch the Olympics without feeling a drop of rain!
There will be a kids fairground and food and drink all week as well. Come and get involved.
Sheftival Live opening Times:
Monday to Thursday 5pm til 9pm
Friday to Sunday: 10 am til 10pm
Our Sheftival Live Stage will be running Friday to Saturday with demonstration sports, dance competitions and loads loads more. We reckon this will be the most fun you can have watching the Olympics anywhere.
Sheftival of Sport
To celebrate the Olympics in style, the city’s many sports teams and associations have really put on a show. From Friday to Sunday, from Athletics to Zorbing, there are loads of sports to watch and play all weekend. Here is a pick of them:
Friday
Don Valley Stadium
10am til 4 pm: Sheffield Business Games.
Working with Sheffield Chamber, we will be running the city’s first ever business games. Lawyers taking on teachers in a wide range of athletic pursuits. Get your company signed up to claim bragging rights as South Yorkshire’s fittest company.
9.30am til 4pm
While the business games may not produce the next Jess Ennis, our athletics camp might just do the job. As the regions school kids go through the paces at one of SIV’s regular Athletics Camps.
12 noon til 4.30pm
Join in the fun, with sports to try on the Don Valley Pitch including Hockey, Crazy Golf, Boxing and Tae Kwondo.
5pm till 6pm: Sheffield Eagles kicking clinic. Learn from the stars
6pm till 7pm Sheffield Eagles Public Training Session.
Sheftival Live Stage
3pm till 4pm
Zumba – it gets you fit and makes you look stylish. A great chance to join in with this year’s hottest fitness craze.
4pm til 4.30pm
Tae Kwondo demonstration. Be impressed – that is all!
Saturday
Don Valley Stadium
12.30 till 4pm Athletics – Have a go sessions. Try out a load of different Athletics disciplines at Jess Ennis’ training facilities
10am till 6pm: Sports to try Table Tennis, Hockey, Basketball, Netball, Boccia (12-2pm), Quickplay Sports, Boxing, Tennis.
2pm til 6pm Lets Dance – Dance competition – with winners playing the main stage.
1pm til 5pm Sheffield Eagles Touch Rugby Tornament.
12 till 6pm Inflatable Football Pitch – Turn up and just play
